RIVERINA GIRL
Songs on Riverina Girl
Riverina Girl is the title song off the album. This is a song written about my childhood growing up in Griffith, in the Riverina, NSW.
Here I Am is a song that my late husband, Vic Sophios, wrote the lyrics to, and I had never heard him sing it, so I put the melody to this song. This song is beautifully written from the first person of Jesus Christ, and how He can change your life if you just trust in Him.
Murrumbidgee Dreaming is a song that I wrote also about my life growing up near the Murrumbidgee River in Griffith, NSW.
Lord, It's So Good is another song that Vic wrote that I had never heard him sing , so I put the melody to this one also. It's a lovely song of worship to the Lord Jesus Christ.
I've Been Set Free is one of the first songs that I wrote when I first became a Christian over 30 years ago. This is a simple song describing just how Jesus changed my life when I accepted Him as my Lord and Saviour.
Grandma's Love was written about my maternal grandmother, who taught me how to pray when I was a little girl. Even though I didn't become a Christian 'til I was in my mid-30's, I always remember the influence that my grandmother had on my life, because my grandparents were the ones that took me to church when I was young.
Desert Song is a song about feeling a little lost and homesick, and wondering if God is really there with me. I had worked on an Aboriginal community way out in the desert in the Northern Territory, and I felt so alone and homesick and so I wrote this song when I eventually came home.
Across The Border is a song that I wrote when my life was a mess and I came out of a bad relationship and came up to Queensland to live near my family. This proved to be a turning point in my life as I re-dedicated my life to the Lord and have lived in Qld ever since.
The Answer To My Prayer is another song that Vic wrote and I put the melody to it. This is a testamony song of what Jesus Christ did for Vic when he surrendered his life to Him. I am confident that Vic is now in Heaven with the Lord and I will see him again one day.
Then The Waters Came was written just after the devastating floods that ravaged Queensland in early 2011. I wrote this song when I saw all the TV reports and the heartache that many people suffered during this terrible time.
Jesus Came and Touched Me is another song that I wrote early in my Christian walk. Jesus changed my life when He came and touched me.
Here's My Life was written as a testamony to what Jesus can do for if you are searching for meaning to your life.
I pray that this album will touch and inspire you and that you will enjoy the songs that have been written from the heart.
