Riverina Country Girl
Country Gospel Music has been a passion of mine for over 30 years, since I first became a Christian. I play guitar, piano and have recently tried my hand at learning to play bass guitar. I write many of my own country gospel songs which reflect what the Lord Jesus Christ has done in my life. I have also written a number of bush ballads as I am a country girl at heart, having been born and bred in the Riverina area of N.S.W. I moved to South East Queensland in 1990 and have lived here ever since.
I met Vic Sophios in 1996 and we formed a country gospel duo singing and playing our own original gospel songs and also many of the lovely old gospel hymns put to the country sound. We married in 1997 and we would sing around churches and at the Country Gospel Music Club of Brisbane where we were both members. Vic was a prison chaplain and he had a real heart for the lost. Then in 2000 he was diagnosed with an inoperable cancer and passed away just 5 months later. Just before he passed away he asked his brother John Sophios, who has a recording studio, if he would record our songs some time. So in 2004, John recorded my first album for me with some of mine and Vic's songs on it. This is called "He Set the Captives Free". John recorded this album for me for free in memory of his brother. All the proceeds from this CD go to Inside/Out Chaplaincy and Emmaus Bible Correspondence School. These organizations are ministries that reach out to prisoners.
The songs on this CD are - Come Into My Garden, Guard Your Heart, He's the Only One, Tanami Moon, all written by Rose. The songs written by Vic are - He Set the Captives Free, I Found Jesus, Love Song to Jesus, and then Vic and I wrote Take Me Up and Touch Me By Your Spirit together.
